You know when you see something so perfect, so unreal, so absurdly chic, that you briefly dissociate and contemplate quitting your entire life because nothing you own will ever compare? That was me when I happened upon this vintage Ema Savahl piece today.
For those who may not be familiar, Ema Savahl is the label responsible for transforming fashion into wearable art. Founded by designer Ema Koja, her pieces are a masterful blend of hand-painted couture and sculpted, airbrushed magic—think corsetry meets art gallery meets Greek goddess vibes. Her designs are airbrushed magic, seamlessly molding to the body like a second skin. If you’ve ever wished you could wear an oil painting masterpiece, but like, sexy, this is the brand for you.
And if you don’t believe me, allow Exhibit A: Alexis Ren’s Instagram.
Yes, THE Alexis Ren. The woman so genetically unfair that even a DMV photo of her would look editorial. She recently posted herself in what can only be described as a life-altering vintage Ema Savahl number— a painted-on, corset-bodice fairy fever dream of a dress that looks like it was crafted by the gods exclusively for sipping Veuve (or in my case, a mocktail) while ignoring emails.
Linking the post here because you need to experience the existential crisis I had when I saw it:

It’s giving Sistine Chapel, but make it hot.
It’s giving Renaissance masterpiece, but also, bottle service.
It’s giving “I don’t do coat checks because my driver holds my things.”
It’s the dress that says, Yes, I am the muse. No, I won’t be taking questions.
Ema Savahl has been a celeb favorite for YEARS, and if you’ve ever seen someone looking unreasonably snatched at Art Basel or casually leaning against a balcony in Monaco, they were probably wearing an Ema Savahl original. The brand has graced red carpets, music videos, and the closets of people who don’t check price tags. Each piece is hand-painted, structured to absolute filth, and designed to make you feel like an actual deity.
The worst part? It’s sold out constantly. Obviously. You could stalk resale sites and refresh your browser like you’re waiting for Taylor Swift tickets, or you could just sell a kidney and bribe a boutique associate. Up to you.
Anyway, if you need me, I’ll be spiraling over the fact that I don’t own one of these dresses while manifesting a life where my biggest problem is which yacht to wear it on.
Xoxo,
Alexis
